Our Opinion of Market Value (Valuation) is precise or as precise as any fortune-telling exercise can be. It is an educated guess, not a GAAP sanctioned formula, for there are no real recognized calculations that can tell a company owner exactly what a willing buyer will value your company at for acquisition purposes. But there are a lot of common denominators that buyers use to come up with a general range of values. Because we were buyers and keep track of the comps of other sales, over our 40-year history we have refined those elements into a algorithm with subjective human inputs to provide a tight range of probable values or purchase prices. This approach is much the way a well-known auto appraisal company does in providing sellers with an estimated value range… but a lot more sophisticated and through.
